2001 – 2002

In continuation with the Foundation’s sustained effort to encourage and cherish tribal art, the Kurumba artists were provided with art materials and incentives to produce the art for commercial marketing. The Foundation organised an exhibition cum sale of their products in the city of Mumbai at Cymroza Art Gallery, from June 21 to 28, 2001. The Foundation took great efforts to give wide publicity about the event in the city of Mumbai. The Foundation also organised two more exhibitions at the C.P. Art Centre, Chennai, in the month of March 2002.
There was a good coverage by the media and as a result the artists were contacted by other organizations for exhibitions, workshops, trainings, etc., giving them sufficient exposure. Thus, the tribal trainees were benefited in multifold ways. A few art dealers also contacted the Foundation and evinced keen interest to market their products.
