ActivitiesThe survival of tribal culture is seriously threatened. The Foundation has been working with the Kurumbas of the Nilgiris to adapt their traditional arts to contemporary use. Kurumba art are slowly entering the market thanks to the persistent promotional efforts taken by the Foundation. The Foundation has also encouraged the Kurumba youth of Kunjappanai by providing them the required art materials along with periodical guidance on techniques and market needs by art trainers and art dealers.Vennirul Art Gallery, a constituent of the Foundation has been holding exclusive exhibitions of Nilgiri tribal products, such as Toda shawls, Kurumba art, Kota pottery and natural oil extracts
Rebecca Timson a Fulbright Fellow from Billings Middle school, Seattle, USA purchased a good number of Kurumba art with an intention to organize exhibitions in the USA to help this tribe. The exhibitions were organized at Billings Middle school with the support of Seattle Art Muesum Teacher Resource Centre, USA.
