KURUMBA PAINTING
2006 – 2007
Activities
- In continuation of the Foundation’s sustained efforts to encourage and cherish tribal arts, the Kurumba artists were provided with art materials and other incentives to produce more art for commercial marketing.
- The Foundation organized a workshop during November 2006 for Kurumba artists to refresh their skills. They were taught screen printing and the technique of printing the description and logo on the rear side of the art. These new skills are expected to help them market their products more effectively
- The Foundation organized an exhibition and sale of their products in the C.P. Art Center’s Vennirul Art gallery. A permanent section for tribal products was set up in this gallery. This is expected to promote their traditions of arts and crafts and also help them find additional income. More importantly, it will ensure the preservation of their traditional arts and crafts.
